At Watertown High School, Extension period is one of the most powerful tools we have to ensure every student gets what they need to stay on track.
Extension is our built-in instructional support period designed to give all students in every class time for:

• Targeted help from teachers
• Skill practice and reassessment
• Small-group instruction
• Quiet independent work
• Opportunities to relearn, rethink, and refine their understanding

It is a core part of our commitment to academic growth, personalization, and making sure students are never left without support.
And today, we are excited to spotlight Mrs. Cyr, whose creativity and dedication have taken Extension to the next level.
She has developed a Choice Board that gives students meaningful options during Extension, empowering them to select tasks aligned to their strengths, interests, learning goals, and Vision of the Graduate competencies. Her design:

• Encourages independence and ownership
• Supports reteaching and enrichment
• Builds academic habits that help students stay on track all year
• Makes learning engaging, purposeful, and student-centered

Teachers like Mrs. Cyr make Extension more than just a support block, they make it an opportunity for students to grow, explore, and succeed.
